History

State Tool & Mfg Company, a manufacturer of switches, light sockets, convenience outlets, wiring harnesses & many other products, as well as customized designs, is a family owned business.

The company, originally named State Tool & Gage, was established in 1955 by a small group of entrepreneurs manufacturing only tools specializing in trim dies for the die cast industry.

In March, 1973, Burcliff Industries, Mishawaka, Indiana, purchased the company and hired Manroe Raschke as president and general manager. Burcliff Industries moved the operation to Mexico in 1977, manufacturing a few of the same parts produced today at State Tool & Manufacturing Company. Within one-and-a-half years, business declined dramatically due to the inability to meet delivery schedules so the operation returned to Benton Harbor in 1978 where it remains today.

Believing in this business, Mr. Raschke seized the opportunity to purchase State Tool, renamed it State Tool & Mfg. Company and designated a hummingbird as the company logo.

In 1992 State Tool purchased the assets of Circle F and added the well-known line of Circle F products to our current production line.

The company currently operates a 25,000 sq. ft. assembly plant plus a 26,000 sq ft injection and compression molding plant in Benton Harbor, in addition to a 10,000 sq. ft. assembly plant in Gilbert, Arizona. Designing, prototyping, testing, molding and stamping are all done in-house to maintain quality and low competitive prices for the customer.

Over the past twenty-five years, Mr. Raschke has passed on his work ethics, pride and philosophy to his children who now manage the company with their respective diversified expertise.

State Tool & Manufacturing Company’s impressive client list includes many nationally recognized names such as Whirlpool Corporation, Maytag Corporation, Electrolux, Burner Systems, General Electric, B/S/H Appliances, Copreci De Mexico, Hill-Rom Industries, L.C. Doane Company and many more.
